God's cake...
This is about the best thing I've ever read as an explanation.
Sometimes we wonder, 'What did I do to deserve this?' or 'Why did God have to do this to me?' Here is a wonderful explanation! A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'
'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers.
'Yuck' says her daughter.
'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!'
'Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?'
'Mom, those are all yucky!'
To which the mother replies: 'Yes , all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!
God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

Paper Creations by Deb - The Perfect Mother's Day Card!!!
Some of you know that I do make my own cards sometimes. I also know that sometimes it is like pulling teeth to sit down and come up with an idea and actually execute it!! Anyway, I had an idea for a Mothers' Day card. I wanted to add some old pictures in it of my Mom and I over the years, and just knew I wouldn't have the time to do it. So I started surfing Etsy and I am sooo glad I did!
Deb, from Paper Creations by Deb had the PERFECT card, just the way I envisioned it! When I received it, I was so impressed with the workmanship, I just had to share!
It is beautiful on the front
Perfect spots for adding my pictures on the inside!
Her shop is fairly new and is full of great cards, beautiful journals, and the cutest little "Micro" matchbook journals that would be a great gift for showers or weddings!! Not to mention, she has amazing cards for all occasions including Mothers Day!
Is this too cute!?!?!

Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society put on a great "Relay for Life" project in Roseville, CA this weekend. Booths were set up, donating a portion of their sales to the cause. Participants camped out for the 3 day event. The weather was perfect for doing laps! My son ran a Jamba Juice booth, perfect for quenching the thirst of hot joggers! Everyone got into the spirit and it was a blast!

Love/Hate relationship with leather!
I have been on an emotional roller coaster ride with all things....leather. Sometimes my sewing machines will sew it, other times not. I bought a machine specifically for working on leather, because my sister-in-law uses it for all her leather work. It worked for awhile, then stopped...sometimes. My brand new Singer sometimes sews on leather, other times not. SO frustrating. I have a ton of leather samples and scraps! I gave my daughter and old Pfaff and used it to fix her sofa slipcover, fell in love! Since she doesn't sew at all, I shipped it back home and have been having a blast sewing ON LEATHER!
I recently sold one leather sunglass case I had, so I decided to make some more. They are so much fun and another creative outlet for me, (besides handbags). I also needed a case to keep my cell phone and speaker set together in my purse, so made one. My son recently bought a new guitar, so I copied it the best I could, and made one for him too. Here are the results. What do you think?

Don't let this happen to you!!
Here is what happens when you go to work full time and neglect your garden!
After three years of hard work, my " back forty " section of our yard looked like this. Then I went to work full time and slowly started neglecting it. Now it looks like this:
Sad, uh?!
I am now too old and feeble to fix it myself. I need to hire some HELP! I've been working on the parts closer to the house these last few days so they don't end up like this. Wish me luck!!! LOL! Have a good weekend.

Friday Funny
Housework was a woman's job, but one evening, Janice arrived home from work to find the children bathed, one load of laundry in the washer and another in the dryer Dinner was on the stove, and the table set. She was astonished!
It turns out that Chuck had read an article that said, 'Wives who work full-time and had to do their own housework were too tired to have sex'.
The night went very well. The next day, Janice told her Red Hat friends all about it. 'We had a great dinner. Chuck even cleaned up the kitchen. He helped the kids do their homework, folded all the laundry and put it away. I really enjoyed the evening.'
'But what about afterward?' asked her friends.
'Oh, that........... Chuck was too tired.'
God is good

IRISH BIRTH CONTROL (a little on off subject from last post)
in Dublin when
Mrs. Donovan was walking down O'Connell Street
she met up with Father Flaherty.
The Father said, 'Top o' the mornin'
to ye! Aren't ye Mrs. Donovan
and didn't I marry ye and yer
hoosband two years ago?'
She replied, 'Aye, that ye did, Father.'
The Father asked, 'And be there
any wee little ones yet?'
She replied, 'No, not yet, Father.'
The Father said, 'Well now,
I'm going to Rome next week
and I'll light a candle for ye
and yer hoosband.'
She replied, 'Oh, thank ye, Father.'
They then parted ways.
Some years later they met again.
The Father asked, 'Well now,
Mrs. Donovan, how are ye these days?'
She replied, 'Oh, very well, Father!'
The Father asked, 'And tell me ,
have ye any wee ones yet?'
She replied, 'Oh yes, Father!

The Father said, 'That's wonderful!

She replied, 'E's gone to Rome

Announcing!! - The Giveaway Winner & My New Grandson
Well, it has been a long and exciting few days around here! "C" Finally gave birth to , and I know some of you will be upset, the MOST beautiful grandchild ever!!!! LOL!
See what I mean? Is he the cutest baby ever??!!
Here is the Grandma, (me).
Little "A" was born at 12:49 am , April 6, 2010. He weighed 8 lb 10 oz and is 21 " long. That means, the person the guessed the closest time and date is Angie! Congratulations! I will be sending the winning lunch tote out next week. Thank you again, for all of you that entered the giveaway. It was fun and I'll be doing it again sometime.
Now, back to the baby! He is sooooo cute! Mom and Dad and baby are all doing great! It was a long labor, about 18 hours or so, with NO pain meds! OMG! Kids these days!!! She was so strong and brave and I am so proud of her! I was only in labor for about 4 hours with her and when they offered meds I said "bring them on"!!! NOW! Like mother like daughter?, HARDLY. I am spending the day getting the house all ready for them to come home either tonite or tomorrow. My husband will be up here on Friday and we are both going home Sunday morning. Although I will be glad to be home after a month here, I will sure miss spending time with the kids. It has been fun and very nurturing for me. I've been an "empty nester" for a few years now, so this time has been great! But it is time to get back to a new normal, and catch up with everything. My poor esty shop has been very neglected, have to find a job, take a few classes, and go to jury duty (ugh).
I probably won't be posting anything else until sometime next week. So good bye for now and thanks again for all of your kind thoughts and prayers during this fun, stressful and exciting time in my life! oxox debi

Fair Weather Walkers
It is curious to me how many people walk, everyday, all the time, with their dogs, without their dogs, or ride their bikes, in any weather, up here in Portland! Before I came up here (for my grandson's birth, and no, he is not born yet)!, I planned on walking to the little coffee shop, just down the street, every morning. And have I done that? Not once.. We have walked up to Starbucks a few blocks away numerous times, but the weather was nice then. People up here walk all the time! I can't figure out if they love the rain or are going stir crazy and just need to get out! All I know is, in the Sacramento area, you wouldn't think of walking in the rain! And bad,( gained 10 lbs since I've been up here), me, just doesn't think about walking much at all.....maybe when it gets back up to 70*....

POWER OUTAGE
At my recent assault trial, I offered a plea of "Guilty with an explanation . " The judge asked me what my explanation was, so I told my story .
"Your Honor," I said, "I had a mammogram appointment, which I actually kept . I was met with: 'Hi! I'm Belinda!' This perky clipboard carrier smiled from ear to ear, tilted her head to one side and crooned, 'All I need you to do is step into this room right here, strip to the waist, then slip on this gown . Everything clear?' I'm thinking, 'Belinda, try decaf . This ain't rocket science . ' Belinda skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors .
With the right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and said, 'Hmmmm . Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so we can get everything?' 'Fine', I answered . I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck and finish me off? My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other breast wedged between those two 4 inch pieces of square glass) when we heard, then felt , a zap!
Complete darkness and the power went off! 'Oh, maintenance is working . Bet they hit a snag . ' Belinda said, and headed for the door .
'Excuse me! You're not leaving me in this vise alone are you?' I shouted . Belinda kept going and said, 'Oh, you fussy puppy . . . the door's wide open so you'll have the emergency hall lights . I'll be right back . '
Before I could shout 'NOOOO!' she disappeared . . And that's exactly how Bubba and Earl, maintenance men Extraordinaire, found me . . . Half-naked with part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life, and the other part smashed between g la ss!
Two hours later, Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin . Making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said, 'Oh I am sooo sorry!' The power came back on and I totally forgot about you! And silly me, I went to lunch . Are we upset?'
And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the clamps . . . . "
The judge could hardly contain her la ughter as she said 'Case Dismissed!!' . .
Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!
